DUENEWEG, Mo. —
A local trucking company is hauling sacred pieces of history across the United States.
Twisted beams of wreckage from what was the World Trade Center are en route to Kitsap County, Wash., where they are to be used in the construction of a memorial to heroes of 9/11.
Duenweg-based R&R Trucking Inc., which usually hauls sensitive materials for the government, is making the haul that left New York on Tuesday.
The beams will be on display from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at R&R on East Seventh Street.
“We have had a lot of visitors here today,” said Kevin McKelvy, vice president of administration at R&R, on Thursday. “Word travels remarkably quickly.”
