Plans begin for Joplin Christmas Parade

JOPLIN, Mo. — Hometown Christmas has been selected as the theme for the Joplin Jaycees Christmas Parade, set for Tuesday, Dec. 6.

Information packets will be mailed in the first week of October to participants in last year’s parade. Groups wanting to participate who didn’t participate last year may call (417) 624-4155 to receive an information packet.

In other information related to Christmas, a group called Raising Hope for Joplin has designed a Christmas ornament to honor the memory of those who died in the May 22 tornado and to raise  money for artificial Christmas trees for tornado survivors. The ornaments will be available for  $15 apiece beginning Oct. 10 at Front Line Apparel at Northpark Mall, or at raisinghopeforjoplin.com.
