Neosho School Board sets tax rate at current level

NEOSHO, Mo. — The Neosho Board of Education on Monday set its 2013-14 tax rate at $3.11 per $100 of assessed valuation, the same as the current rate. No one spoke during a public hearing on the tax rate.

The rate includes $2.75 for operations and 36 cents for debt service.

“These are the same rates we passed last year and the year before,” said Tim Crawley, district operations manager.

The owner of a house with a market value of $100,000 would pay annual property taxes to the school district totaling $590.90. The owner of a $15,000 vehicle would pay personal property tax of $154 to the school district.

Crawley said the district benefited from a small increase in the district’s assessed valuation, form nearly $267 million to $276 million. The taxes are expected to raise $6.8 million for operations and $894,906 for debt service.
