The Joplin Schools Board of Education will consider proposals for the 2010-2011 school calendar during its regular meeting on Tuesday night at the Joplin High School.
According to a copy of the calendar including with the board’s agenda and meeting documents, the first day of school next fall would be Wed., Aug. 18. The last day of school would be Friday, May 20, if the district did not have to make up for snow days.
Missouri law requires school districts wishing to start an academic year more than 10 days before the first Monday of September to give notice of and hold a public meeting to discuss the proposed school calendar.
