Westview school closed until Monday because of flu

From staff reports

NEOSHO, Mo. — The Westview school district in Newton County is closed today through Friday because of a flu outbreak among its students, Superintendent Mark Fitch said.

“Our attendance just continued to run very low, very below average,” he said. “We got down to about 69 percent attendance. We hope with the kids staying home for five days, that would help them heal, plus stop the spread of germs in the school.”

Fitch said the school, which has 120 students in kindergarten through eighth grade, will reopen Monday. Parents have been notified by phone as well as by notes sent home on Tuesday with their children.
