NEOSHO, Mo. —
Benton Elementary School in Neosho and Central Park Elementary School in Monett are received two of the eleven Exemplary School awards given statewide by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
The schools received the Missouri Professional Learning Communities Exemplary School Awards.
At Benton, Principal Jody Wagner said pupils’ test scores in reading and math have improved each of the past three years after the district instituted a state initiative. Teachers use data from tests to develop strategies to target to students.
“We had to identify barriers that prevent learning,” said Glenda Condict, assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction at Neosho schools.
