Jasper County seeks Certified Work Ready Community designation

— Community and business leaders who are members of the Jasper County Certified Work Ready Committee on Monday submitted an application to the state with the goal of designating the county as a Certified Work Ready Community.

Jasen Jones, executive director of the Workforce Investment Board of Southwest Missouri, said Jasper County may become the first county in the state to receive the designation, though others are pursuing it.

The project is based on the National Career Readiness Certificate, which measures the skills of potential employees so employers can determine the skill levels of people they hire.
