More Pittsburg residents employed now than in 2009

Trend expected to continue for five years

PITTSBURG, Kan. — In a progress report to the Pittsburg City Commission Tuesday, Economic Development Director Blake Benson said the economic health of the city has improved in recent years.

About 150 more people were employed in Pittsburg in November 2012 than in November 2009, with unemployment going from 7 percent in 2009 to 5.5 percent in 2012. That trend will continue because of several construction projects, Benson said.
