Rachel Rees has been hired as an assistant volleyball coach at Missouri Southern.
Rees, a 2008 graduate of Evangel, was a four-year starter at setter in college — at William Woods her freshman year before transferring to Evangel. After college, she coached in middle school before becoming head coach at Eldon High School.
“I am really excited and grateful for the opportunity to coach at MSSU,” Rees said in a press release. “I’ve looked up to Trish (MSSU coach Trish Knight) since I was a young player and am thrilled for the chance to coach with her.”
“Rachel was an accomplished setter and has a good grasp of the game, both technically and strategically,” Knight said. “She will be an excellent addition to our staff.
Rees has a 4-year-old son, Dayton, and is engaged to Dusstin Kirkman. They plan to be married next summer.
Rees replaces Austin Warren, who left to become head coach at Camdenton High School.
