Both Missouri Southern cross country programs have earned team academic awards from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
To qualify, a team must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0, and it must have posted a team score in the regional meet.
The Lions placed second in the men’s regional and fourth in the women’s regional last November on the MSSU course.
In addition, eight Missouri Southern runners earned individual academic honors. The women’s team has five honorees — Kaitlyn Belisle, Cassy Kendrick, Rachel Schrader, Addie Mengwasser and Marlee Tegenkamp — and the men are represented by Jake Benton, Colton Wooldridge and Ryan Jackson.
Those recipients must have a 3.25 GPA through the most recent semester, complete at least 12 credit hours in the semester of the cross country season and finish in the top half of the most recent national championship or top 30 percent of the regional meet.
