FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. —
Missouri Southern’s Melanie Bower improved her provisional in the pole vault to highlightthe Lions’ performances on Friday in the Tyson Invitational at the Randal Tyson Track Complex.
Bower placed seventh overall with a season-best height of 12 feet, 11⁄2 inches. That mark places her 12th in the nation, according to coach Patty Vavra.
“They moved the bar to 12-7, and Melanie had a couple of good attempts there,” Vavra said. “I think it’s something she definitely can attain somewhere down the road.”
The Lions’ Kylie Cornman improved her provisional in the weight throw (49-5). In the women’s long jump, Brittani Reagan went 17-91⁄2 and Kaylee Morgan 16-91⁄4.
In the men’s division, Jazz Allen posted his fastest time of the season in the 60-meter hurdles (8.26 seconds).
The Lions’ Jeff Fraley (6.90) and Erron Holley (7.09) did not qualify for the semifinals in the 60 meters.
