Matt Elliott has been hired by Missouri Southern as the school’s “Voice of the Lions,” starting with the football season this fall.
He replaces Kevin Greim, who stepped down after 12 years of calling the Lions’ games to accept the position of major gifts officer at Missouri Southern.
Elliott is no stranger to the MIAA, having provided color commentary for all Truman State football broadcasts in 2011. He also served as play-by-play announcer for many Bulldog basketball games last season.
He has been working at KRES radio station in Moberly where he broadcast many high school games.
“I'd like to thank Missouri Southern for giving me this opportunity,” Elliott said in a press release. ”I’m very excited to be able to stay in the MIAA and continue to be involved in Division II athletics. I'm very proud to be the voice of the Missouri Southern Lions.”
“We are happy to welcome Matt to the Missouri Southern Athletics Department as the Voice of the Lions,” MSSU athletics director Jared Bruggeman said. “His play-calling ability is excellent and we know that our fans will enjoy listening to him.”
Elliott, a native of Brookfield, Mo., is a Northwest Missouri State graduate and served as sideline reporter for the Bearcats’ games during the 2009 football season. While in Maryville, he also was station manager, program director and sports director at KZLX radio.
