Lion spikers fall to 0-4 in Pittsburg State Classic

PITTSBURG, Kan. —  Missouri Southern fell to 0-4 in its volleyball season with a pair of losses Saturday in the Pittsburg State Classic.

The Lions fell 3-2 to William Jewell and 3-0 to Harding.

Southern won two of the first three sets against William Jewell (25-17, 13-25, 25-21) but then dropped two straight (25-8, 15-10).

Katie Politte had 18 kills and 12 digs for the Lions, and Payton Graves added 11 kills. Abby Finder had 37 assists and 15 digs and Sydney Potts had 14 digs.

Harding beat the Lions 25-17, 25-18, 25-17. Politte had six kills, Finder 20 assists and Potts 14 digs.

OCC WINS ONE

ANKENY, Iowa — Ozark Christian College won one of four weekend matches in the Faith Baptist Spikefest, downing North Central 25-14, 25-11, 25-17.

Maranatha, Grace and Faith Baptist all beat the Ambassadors, dropping them to 1-5 for the season.

Carrie Page had 18 kills against Faith, 10 against North Central and five against Maranatha. Jenny Larson led with five kills against Grace.

Bethany Decker had 26 assists in the win, 35 in a four-set loss to Faith and 12 against Maranatha.

OCC plays at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Cottey College in Nevada.
