Candis Clark scored with eight minutes remaining, lifting Missouri Southern to its first soccer victory of the season on Friday.
The Lions stopped Fort Hays State 2-1 in an MIAA match at Fred G. Hughes Stadium.
The winning goal came off a corner kick.
Senior Cortney Sanders lofted the ball into the pack in front of the goal and Clark, also a senior, headed it home.
Senior Natasha Lord scored the Lions’ first goal, at the 38:28 mark.
Sade Humphrey answered for Fort Hays at 59:18.
Southern, 1-5-1 overall, improved to 1-2 in the conference. .

Visiting Truman State topped Missouri Southern in an MIAA match at Robert Ellis Young Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs hit .321 for the night and improved to 9-3 overall and 3-1 in the conference with a 25-20, 25-10, 25-23 decision.
Katie Politte led Missouri Southern with 10 kills. Nai Montano and Payton Graves added seven kills each.
Abby Finder had 28 assists and Politte led with eight digs. Callie Whetstone and Graves had three block assists apiece.
