Rain washes out MSSU baseball, softball again

Another rainy day produced two more washouts for Missouri Southern teams.

Weather and field conditions permitting, the Lions’ baseball and softball teams hope to play two games today.

The Lions face regular-season champion Missouri Western in a twinbill today starting at 2 p.m. at Joe Becker Stadium. Senior Day activities will be held between games.

The third game of the series has been canceled. Conference rules state games cannot be played during finals week, and finals begin Monday at Missouri Western.

While they did not take the field, the Lions (28-17, 22-15) fell into a tie for fourth place in the conference standings with Central Oklahoma, which won 6-2 on Saturday at Truman State.

Missouri Southern’s home softball games against Southwest Baptist were postponed and rescheduled for 3 p.m. Monday.

As a result, the Lions have both Senior Day and the Pink Game activities today when they face Central Missouri at 1 p.m. today at Lea Kungle Field.
