Times set for MSSU's regional tourney

MIAA Tournament champion Missouri Southern will travel to Mankato, Minn., today by bus in preparation for the six-team Central Region tournament at Franklin Rogers Park.

The Lions, who received an automatic bid by winning their conference tournament, will face No. 1 seed Minnesota State University at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The Mavericks (35-8) are ranked No. 9 nationally and are the defending regional champions.

Live audio and video streaming of the Lions’ games in Mankato are available for free on the Lions’ website, www.mssulions.com.

No. 2 Central Missouri (35-11) will face No. 5 St. Cloud State (34-9) at 3:30 p.m. and No. 3 Southern Arkansas (40-15) will play No. 4 Missouri Western (40-10) at noon.

If Missouri Southern (34-20) wins Thursday, the Lions would play the loser of the Southern Arkansas-Missouri Western game at 3:30 p.m. Friday. If Missouri Southern loses Thursday, the Lions would play the loser of the Central Missouri-St. Cloud State game at noon Friday.

Saturday’s games are set for noon, 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. The championship game is scheduled for noon Sunday, followed by a second game, if necessary, at 3:30 p.m.
