WYANDOTTE, Okla. — A new Wyandotte American Indian Nation casino opening today will bring more than 200 jobs to Northeast Oklahoma, tribal officials said.

The 50,000-square-foot Wyandotte Nation Casino will include an upscale restaurant and lounge, a concession stand and a gift shop.

“We consider the casino the Bellagio of this area,” said Melissa Tuttle, director of casino operations, referring to the trendy Las Vegas casino.

After the casino’s doors open at 5 p.m. today, it will remain open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The restaurant will serve lunch and dinner.

The addition of the Wyandotte Nation Casino brings the number of casinos in Ottawa and Delaware counties to 12.

The 20,000-square-foot gambling floor will have 500 slot machines, a blackjack area with eight tables and a five-table room for people to play Texas Hold’em poker, Tuttle said.

The casino has a player-tracking system that will allow guests to sign in for a player’s card, she said. The card tracks the customer’s playing time and how much the money the person plays, then provides a point system that the customer can apply toward the restaurant, she said.

The Wyandotte Nation Casino is about 150 yards from the tribe’s first casino, Lucky Turtle Casino. That casino has 100 machines.
