PITTSBURG, Kan. — A 24-year-old man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly broke into a Pittsburg home and sexually assaulted a woman.
Acting Sgt. Chris Woods of the Pittsburg Police Department said in a news release that officers were called at 6:30 a.m. Sunday to a home in the 400 block of East Eighth Street about a burglary. Some female residents of the address detained a man who they said entered their home without permission and sexually assaulted one of them, Woods said.
James Sprignoli, of Pittsburg, was taken to the Crawford County Jail. He later was charged with aggravated burglary, attempted rape, sexual battery and criminal damage. He remained in custody on bonds totaling $76,500.
Sprignoli allegedly entered a bedroom of the home and sexually assaulted an occupant. The woman notified another occupant who called police, Woods said.
