GALENA, Kan. — Formal drug charges were pending Wednesday against two people who were arrested Tuesday by Galena police after a traffic stop and a search of a home.
Police Chief Larry Delmont said in a news release that a Galena man was stopped as he was driving on property that is part of the city demolition landfill. A search of the vehicle reportedly turned up a white powder that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
Delmont said in the release that the search of the vehicle, paired with information that had been gathered previously in an investigation of the man, was used to obtain a search warrant for his home on Roosevelt Street, just off Stateline Road.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation assisted Galena police in searching the mobile home. The search reportedly resulted in the seizure of suspected drugs, meth ingredients, 17 guns and $2,297 in cash.
A woman at the home also was arrested on suspicion of drug possession and suspicion of drug manufacturing, Delmont said. Other possible charges against the two could include felony possession of firearms.
