COLUMBUS, Kan. — Some felony drug charges against a Columbus man have been dismissed in Cherokee County District Court, but three other charges against the man remain.
Larry Overman, 56, was charged in September 2007 with felony possession of methamphetamine and a felony alleging he had no drug tax stamp on July 3, 2007. Misdemeanor marijuana and drug paraphernalia charges also were included in the criminal complaint.
Cherokee County Attorney John Bullard on Friday filed a motion to dismiss the case, writing that Overman has other pending cases against him, making prosecution unnecessary. Cherokee County District Judge Kent Lynch dismissed the case, citing Bullard’s motion.
Court records show three other cases involving felony drug charges against Overman, with the alleged crimes taking place on Dec. 23, 2006; Oct. 4, 2007; and March 24, 2008.
Robert Myers represented Overman in this case. Columbus police handled the investigation.
