Kansas woman killed in accident north of Joplin
A Kansas woman was killed and two other people were injured in a two-vehicle accident at 11:30 a.m. Monday at highways 43 and 96, two miles north of Joplin, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The driver of one of the vehicles, Ida M. Wall, 82, of Wichita, Kan., was pronounced dead at the scene by a Jasper County deputy coroner, and her body was taken to Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City, authorities said.
A passenger in the deceased driver’s vehicle, Earl H. Wall, 87, also of Wichita, was taken to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, the patrol said. The other driver, Vincent R. Martinez, 37, of Joplin, also was taken to Freeman Hospital West, the patrol said.
The Walls’ westbound car was struck broadside by Martinez’s northbound vehicle, the patrol said.
n An Arkansas man suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 7:10 a.m. Monday on Highway 86, one mile south of Wheaton in Barry County, the state patrol said.
Michael D. Braudrick, 48, of Springdale, was taken by ambulance to St. John’s Regional Health Center in Springfield, the patrol said.
Braudrick was driving an eastbound pickup truck that was struck by a westbound truck driven by Harold J. Roberson, 53, of Monett, when Roberson pulled from a county road into the path of Braudrick’s truck, the patrol said.
n Three people were injured in a single-vehicle accident at 6:16 p.m. Sunday on Highway 20, a quarter-mile south of Southwest City, Mo., in Delaware County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.
Three passengers in the car were taken by ambulances to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin. Jizelle Rivera, 5, and Janell Rivera, 3, both of Noel, were listed in critical condition at the hospital, the patrol said. Engrid Flores, 23, of Noel, was listed in stable condition. The driver, Enzo Morales Sosa, 21, of Noel, escaped injury, the patrol said.
The northbound vehicle ran off the road, struck a ditch and rolled three times before coming to rest on its wheels, the patrol said. The two children were thrown from the vehicle, the patrol said.
