Man charged with possession of child porn

A criminal complaint was filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Springfield charging a rural Anderson man with possessing child pornography on two computers in his home.

A special agent with Immigration and Customs Enforcement filed the complaint and an accompanying affidavit charging Quentin Venter, 33, with the felony offense.

The affidavit states that ICE agents, and members of Missouri’s State Technological Assistance Team and the McDonald County Sheriff’s Department served a search warrant on Venter’s home at 8466 Route E on Aug. 16 of last year after developing probable cause that he was receiving and possessing child pornography.

The affidavit alleges that a desktop computer and a laptop computer were found in the home, and that both contained child pornography. The pornography included still images and videos downloaded from child-porn Internet sites, according to the affidavit.

Venter allegedly admitted to using his wife’s credit card to access and subscribe to the sites. A total of 46 still images and 69 movie files of child porn allegedly were found on the laptop, along with 12 movie files on the desktop computer.

The affidavit states that the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in April of this year reviewed the images retrieved from Venter’s computer files, and identified a number of known child victims from previous law-enforcement investigations in 10 of the still images and in 17 of the videos.

In one of the videos, a young girl was a known victim from England, and a 4-year-old girl in a still photo was a known victim from Sweden, according to the affidavit.
