MONETT, Mo. — Monett police are warning residents about an apparent phone scam involving a local business.
The department has received “multiple calls” since last Thursday, said Detective John Allard.
Allard said reports indicate that residents have received calls from an automated system claiming to be affiliated with Jack Henry & Associates Inc. The recording states that the victim’s credit card has been deactivated. The recording asks the victim to enter the 16-digit credit-card number to reactivate the card.
Allard said Monett police officials spoke with Jack Henry officials, and that the calls are not originating from the firm. Jack Henry & Associates is a Monett-based company that makes software for banks.
Allard said anyone who is called by the system should not give out credit-card information.
