A man from Texas was arrested Thursday at the Budget Inn in Joplin on a felony charge of possession of methamphetamine.

Cpl. Chuck Niess of the Joplin Police Department said officers went to the motel at 1700 W. 32nd St. to follow up on a driver’s failure to stop when an officer tried to pull him over. Bryan K. Cobb, 41, of Omaha, Texas, was arrested on several outstanding warrants, including a felony warrant, Niess said.

During the arrest, a bag of meth allegedly was found in the pocket of Cobb’s coat and another bag was discovered in a female companion’s purse. Niess said officers eventually determined that both bags allegedly belonged to Cobb, and he was charged with felony possession of the drug.
