RAYMORE, Mo. —
Marjorie Mary Reed, age 95, Raymore, Mo., formerly of Joplin, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at her home.
Marjorie was born May 2, 1918, in Blue Eye, Mo., daughter of the late Henry Bright and Margaret Brumfield Bright. She grew up in Taney County, Mo., and on Aug. 22, 1936, she married Hollis Reed. They lived in Joplin, where she worked as a hairdresser for many years, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was also known for her love of gardening around her home.
In addition to her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis, who died Sept. 13, 1974; and her daughter, Linda Boyd, who died Sept. 12, 1999.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Cammie Johnson, of Raymore, and Brian Boyd and wife, Tracy Lanio-Boyd, of Lees Summit, Mo.; great-grandchildren, Emily Johnson, Devin Lanio and Kaden Boyd; brother, Dan Bright and wife, Elaine, of Rochester, Mich.; sister, Michael Polese and husband, Ed, of Fernendine, Fla.
Graveside services will be Saturday, Dec. 21, at 11:30 a.m. in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Chad DeGonia officiating. The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary prior to the graveside service on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m.
