JOPLIN, MO —

 Mary Louise "Babe" Allen, 91, of Joplin, Mo., passed away at 12:20 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, after a two-month illness.

She was born July 14, 1921, in Joplin, to the union of Rutherford B. and Minnie Belle (Sherer) Sherwood. She was a lifetime resident of Joplin.

She married Bill D. Allen in Joplin in 1941. In 1946, they started a hamburger and ice cream drive-in at 3415 Main Street in Joplin. They started Allen Electric in 1947, at 3415 Main and later moved to 2026 Main, 2014 Main, 2016 Main and 111 West 20th, its current location. She was a longtime member of Bethany Presbyterian Church. She was an excellent cook and baker and a talented china painter.

Her husband, Bil,l preceded her in death on Jan. 27, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Arnold, Ted, Nolan and R.D. Blackie Sherwood; and sisters, Nadine Ash, Erma Lytle, Reba Gilkey and Doris Owen.

She is survived by her daughter, Dee Lynn Aggus and son-in-law, Steve; grandson, Spencer Aggus and his wife, Tammy; and great-grandsons, Drew and Luke. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

We thank the employees of National Health Care for their excellent care, compassion and friendship.

 Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary with burial to follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. in the mortuary chapel. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers will be Jimmie Owen, Michael Owen, Drew Aggus, Luke Aggus, Jim Goodknight and Stan Newby; Danny Ash will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Presbyterian Church or The Salvation Army.
