JOPLIN, Mo. —
Elva Aeriel Byrd Hough, age 98, of Joplin, passed away at 8:35 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at a local health care center following a short Illness.
Born June 14, 1914, in Carl Junction, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Albert Byrd and Bessie Gertrude Leach Byrd and lived in the Joplin area her entire lifetime. A homemaker, she was a founding member of Park Plaza Christian Church.
On June 18, 1933, she married Charles Russel Hough. He preceded her in death on July 13, 1998.
Her daughter, Sandra Lee Smith, also preceded her in 1997.
Survivors include four grandchildren, Timothy Smith and wife, Dianne, of San Angelo, Texas, Brian Smith and wife, Barbara, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Kevin Smith, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Leann Gonnerman and husband, John also, of Las Vegas; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Kathryn Ellison, of Arkansas.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, at Diamond Cemetery in Diamond, Mo., under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
