SOUTHWEST CITY, Mo. —
Mary Catherine Beatrice Poole Manning, 79, of Southwest City, Mo., was born Jan. 12, 1934, to Paul and Sarah Elizabeth (Hanna) Poole in Kansas City. She passed away on Dec. 31, 2013, in Joplin, Mo.
She married the love of her life, Robert E. Manning in 1963, and together they raised four children. It gave her great joy to see them all happily married and with families of their own.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her sister, Sallie Bailey; and her brother, David (Buddy) Poole.
She is survived by her children, John Paul Manning and wife, Ute, of Basel, Switzerland, Elissa Gilgen and husband, Steve, of Hayesville, N.C., Scott Manning and wife, Nancy, of Stilwell, Kan., and Amy Beatrice Bog and husband, Murat, of Fremont, Calif. Mary will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Julian and Philip (John), Zachary, Rachel and Jacob (Elissa), Benjamin and Allison (Scott) and Devin and Deren (Amy). She loved traveling to see them and beating them at cards and board games. Each child holds precious memories with her forever in their hearts. Mary also adored her nieces and nephew, Michele, Sarah, Stephanie and Mary Therese (Sallie), Chris and David (Buddy).
When not spending time with family, Mary enjoyed the companionship of her many great friends and church family at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church in Noel, Mo.
Funeral Mass for Mrs. Manning was held Saturday, Jan. 4, at the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church in Noel, with Father Hank Grodecki, C.M. Officiating. Burial followed in the Noel Cemetery. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers were Zachary Gilgen, Jacob Gilgen, Julian Manning, Philip Manning, Benjamin Manning, Devin Bog, Steve Gilgen, Judd Gilgen and David Poole.
Online condolences may be sent to the family through the Ozark Funeral Home in Noel.
