Mildred J. Bellm Witt

PIERCE CITY, Mo. — Mildred J. Bellm Witt, age 85,  passed from this life on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at the home of her daughter.

Mildred was born July 3, 1928, to the late Anna and Joe Bellm, in Pierce City, Mo., where she resided her entire life. Also preceding here in death were her brothers and sisters, Raymond Witt, Lawrence Witt, Alma Chapman, Charles Bellm, Sr. Bernadine Bellm,  Jim Bellm and LoAnna    Bellah, and one grandchild, Paula Rues.

She was a very active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the surrounding community and dedicated her life to helping others. She owned her own business and touched many lives before suffering a stroke. She was a wonderful wife, mom, grandma, aunt and friend and she will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

She married Francis L. Witt, on May 6, 1947. He preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 2006. They are survived by their 11 children and their family, Patricia Rues and husband, Allen, of Springfield, Rita Witt and husband, Bill Capotosto, of Kansas City, Dan Witt and wife, Donna, of Choctaw, Okla., Leon Witt and wife, Theresa, of Springfield,  Nancy Koester and husband, Gene, of Joplin, David Witt and wife, Ramona, of Kansas City, Dale Witt, of Pierce City, Mary Gray and husband, Tom, of Springfield, Melanie McNeill and husband, Patrick, of Neosho, Chris Witt and wife, Pam, of Pierce City and Ana Scott and husband, Michael, of Garland, Texas, 29 grandchildren and 18 great-     grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, with the Rosary offered at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at 10 a.m. with Bishop James V. Johnston celebrant and Fr. Peter Morciniec, homolist.  All services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 201 Front Street, Pierce City, Mo., under the direction of Lakin Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Pierce City.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Mary's Catholic School in Pierce City.
