JOPLIN, Mo. —
Marlene Patricia Dodson, 75, Lamar, Mo., passed away Monday, June 10, 2013, in Mercy St. Johns Medical Center, Joplin, Mo.
Marlene Patricia Peterson was born May 14, 1938, in San Pedro, Calif., the daughter of Marvin and Lillian Peterson. She attended school in Imbler, Ore. and married Virgil Kenneth Dodson on Nov. 6, 1954, in Baker, Ore. She and her husband moved to Carthage, Mo., in 1958 and then to Lamar, Mo., in 1960. She was a member of the Lamar Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, Ladies Shrine in Carthage and Springfield, Abou Ben Adhem, Springfield, Mo.
Survivors include her husband, Virgil, of the home; two daughters, Connie (Shawn) Earl, Kansas City, Mo. and Cathy (Mickel) McCulley, Aurora, Mo.; two sons, Virgil Dodson, Jr., Lamar and Bill (Alicia) Dodson, Lamar; one sister, Loree Peterson, Memphis, Tenn.; one brother, Gary (Karen) Peterson, Fall City, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 14, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage, Mo. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 15, in the Knell Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Barry Winders will officiate. Interment will be in Dudman Cemetery, Southeast of Carthage.
