JOPLIN, Mo. — Dorothy L. Rode, age 83, of Joplin, Mo., passed away at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Landmark Hospital.

Dorothy was born June 5, 1929, in Kansas City, Mo. She was a graduate of East High School in Kansas City in 1946. She had previously worked 10 years in the bookkeeping department of Sinclair Oil Co. For 38 years, she was the housekeeper for Rev. Theodore Wendoloski, serving parishes in Pulaski Field, Lebanon, Pierce City, and Sarcoxie, Mo. She retired in 1987, and moved to Joplin where she was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Survivors include a sister, Rosemary Hadley, Kansas City, Mo.; six nephews, three nieces, several special friends and her cat, Dusty. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Minnie Rode; and a brother, Harry Joseph Rode.

Funeral Mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Justin Monaghan as Celebrant. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Mount St. Mary's Cemetery in Kansas City. A prayer service will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with visitation following until 6 p.m.

Memorial contributions are requested to St. Mary's Catholic Church Building Fund in care of the mortuary.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary, of Joplin.
