WEBB CITY, Mo. —
Lloyd L. "Hag" Haggard Sr., age 80, of Webb City, Mo., passed away at 9:25 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mount Vernon, Mo.
Lloyd was born March 11, 1933, in San Diego, Calif., and had lived in Webb City most of his life. Lloyd was a 1951 graduate of Webb City High School. He served his country as a U.S. Marine from 1951 to 1954, during a police action in Korea. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He served an additional five years in the Marine Reserves. Lloyd retired in 1990, from the U.S. Postal Service in Webb City, as Supervisor of Mails with over 35 years of service.
Lloyd married Margaret "Pee Wee" Meslin, Oct. 9, 1954, in Webb City. She survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Lloyd Haggard Jr. and wife, Brenda, Tulsa, Okla., and David Haggard, Webb City; one daughter, Tammy Haggard, Webb City; a brother, Doran Haggard and wife, Ila, Neosho, Mo.; a sister, Doreen Nelson and husband, Allen, Joplin; four grandchildren, Cody Logan, Jordan and Michelle; and four great-grandchildren, Jayden, Raiden, Tucker and Greckin. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Harry Dennis Haggard; and two brothers, Floyd and Loren Haggard.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Hedge-Lewis Chapel with Dr. Mel Whittington officiating. Visitation will follow the service.
Memorial contributions are requested to the Missouri Veterans Home in Mount Vernon in care of the funeral home.
