JOPLIN, Mo. —
Rosemary Hargis, age 81, of Joplin, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.
She was born on July 19, 1932, in Carterville, Mo., to Mack Orville Herrod and Ina Jewel Riggs Herrod.
Rosemary worked at doctor's offices at Jane Chin Hospital in Webb City, for many years as a nurse's aide and then later in life was a homemaker. She attended Carterville elementary schools and graduated from Webb City High School.
Rosemary married Patrick Dean Hargis on Sept. 13, 1951, in Eureka Springs, Ark. He preceded her in death in 1987.
She is survived by her son, James Michael Hargis, of Joplin; grandchildren, Summer Hargis, Lindsey Hargis and James Hargis, all of Glendale, Ariz.; and six great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held on Monday, Aug. 26, at Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. A graveside service and viewing will be held on Thursday at West Resthaven Funeral Home in Glendale. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Park, Glendale.
Local arrangements are under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City.
