JOPLIN, Mo. —
Gary Lynn Fields, age 52, of Joplin, passed peacefully in his sleep at 1:41 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at his residence.
Born Oct. 19, 1960, in Kansas City, Mo., he was the son of the late Charles and Harriet Black Fields and had lived in the area since 1979. Gary was a Locomotive Engineer for Kansas City Southern Railroad, where he worked for 33 years. He was a member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Tina Fields, of the home; a son, Ronnie Savage, of Kansas City; two step-children, Reggie Savage, of Phoenix, Ariz., Britney Savage, of Joplin; three grandchildren, Leilani Lee, Ronnie Savage and Londyn Lee; two sisters, Lana Barnes and husband, Claude Hannahs, of Kansas City, Sharon (Renée) Thomas and husband, Michael, of Kansas City, Mo.; three nieces, Kellen Jacobs, U.S.A.F. stationed in Korea with husband, Steven and daughter Stevi, Sarah and Michelle Thomas, both of Lee's Summit; and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Dec. 29, at 10:45 a.m. at Parker Mortuary, with Pastor Rufus Kelly officiating. The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary from 10 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery.
