NEOSHO, Mo. — Alex L. Cotten, 68, entered into rest on Dec. 23, 2012, at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, Mo. following a lengthy illness.

He was born June 1, 1944, in Alexandria, La. to Claude and Agnes (Mullins) Cotten. Alex moved to Neosho in 1973, from Louisiana. He was a lifelong carpenter and retired Minister. He blessed many people having built 15 churches for free. He was also a member of Racine Apostolic Church, Racine, Mo.

Alex married Christine Dunn on Aug. 7, 1965, in Winnsboro, La. and she survives. He is also survived by his children, Ruby Burton and husband, Todd, of Seneca, Mo., Monty Cotten and wife, Beverly, of Joplin, Mo., James Cotten and wife, Melissa K., of Joplin, Mo., Nathaniel Cotten and wife, Melissa Ann, of Neosho, Mo., John Cotten and wife, Jessica, of Seneca, Mo.; two sisters, Sammie Benedict, of Pineville, La., Eunice Bennett, of Pineville, La.; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at Racine Apostolic Church, Racine, Mo. Interment will be in Racine Apostolic Church Cemetery with full Military Honors. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at Racine Apostolic Church, Racine.

Services under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, Mo.
