Linda Sue Weece

WEBB CITY, MO — Linda Sue Weece, age 71, of Webb City, Mo., passed away at 1:53 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin.

Linda was born March 5, 1941, in Cimarron, Kan., the daughter of Leonard and Mae Gardner Weece and was one of nine children. Linda graduated from Cimarron High School in 1959. She was also a graduate of Ozark Christian College in Joplin in 1963. Upon graduation she worked at the college until 1971. In 1972, Linda returned to Cimarron to help care for her mother who was ill. She worked for the Cimarron Insurance Company Home Office for 24 years and for the Appraiser's Office at the Gray County Courthouse in Cimarron for 11 years. Linda moved to Webb City in December 2011, to be close to family due to ill health. She was a member of the Carl Junction Christian Church.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Roy Weece; and two brothers-in-law, Sam Tate and Don Moore.

She is survived by three brothers, Don Weece and wife, Jean, Dodge City, Kan., Gene Weece and wife, Donita, Unionville, Mo., and Leon Weece and wife, Cynthia, Miami, Okla.; four sisters, Louise Tate, Helen Weece and Rose Wilkinson and husband, Woody, all of Webb City, and Elsie Moore, Texarkana, Texas; a sister-in-law, Carol Weece, Lexington, Ky.; 30 nieces and nephews; and numerous great and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Carl Junction Christian Church with Boyce Mouton, Gene Weece, Leon Weece and Woody Wilkinson, Ministers, officiating. Graveside services will be at 9 a.m. Monday in the Osborne Memorial Cemetery in Joplin, with her nephews serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Memorial contributions are requested to Ozark Christian College in care of the mortuary.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary, of Joplin.
