Kay Lynne Puffinbarger

SPRINGFIELD, MO —

Kay Lynne Puffinbarger, age 64, passed away on Dec. 15, 2012, in Springfield, Mo., after a lengthy illness.

Kay was born April 13, 1948, in Lawrence, Kan., and was a longtime Joplin resident. Kay graduated from Joplin High School in 1966, and later graduated from Missouri Southern State University with a BS in elementary education and later from Pittsburg State University with a MS in library science. Kay was an elementary education teacher in Kansas and Missouri, and later worked as a library science educator in Missouri and Arkansas.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Robert "Bob" and Laurel Helen Ellsworth Puffinbarger, of Joplin.

Survivors include her brother, Michael Puffinbarger and wife, Leesa; one nephew, Rob Puffinbarger; and one niece, Carrie Puffinbarger, all of Joplin.

The body has been taken for cremation and no services are planned. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg, Kan., at a later date.
