Ronald "Ron" R. Stapleton

VANCOUVER, WA —

Ron passed away Dec. 26, 2012, at his home in Vancouver, Wash., surrounded by loved ones after several months of ill health.

He was born Dec. 11, 1953, in Joplin, Mo., to Bob and Louise Stapleton. He grew up in Carthage, Mo., and graduated from Carthage High School in 1971.

Ron was preceded in death by his brother, Dick Stapleton in 1981; his father, Bob Stapleton Sr. in 1982; his stepfather, David Fairbank in 2010; and several aunts and uncles.

Ron is survived by his loving wife, Deborah; his mother, Louise Fairbank, of Joplin; his brother, Bob Stapleton Jr. and wife, Barb, of Tulsa, Okla.; one stepsister, Susan Rush and husband, John, of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; his mother-in-law, Barbara Hart, of Woodland, Wash., who was very dear to Ron; one sister-in-law, Samantha Wells and husband, Jack, of Battle Grove, Wash.; aunt, Maxine Hunnell, of Carthage; aunt, Carol Arrowood and husband, Glenn, of Carthage; aunt, Connie Everitt, of Joplin; also his nieces, Carla Stapleton Monroe, Carthage, Brandi Stapleton, Joplin, Amanda Bibbs, Broken Arrow, Okla., Tabatha Nelson and Drew Strand, both of Vancouver, Wash.; three great-nieces; six great-nephews; and many cousins. He will be greatly missed by all of us.

Ron has worked at several jobs during his lifetime. He worked on water towers for several years, painted flag poles, was a welder, sold insurance, worked for UPS and worked for the Highway Department in Washington State until he became disable. His passion was music, he played guitar, piano and the organ. He had played in bands since he was a teenager. He also gave guitar lessons. He had many good friends, who are musicians, from many different states.

His body was cremated. There will be no formal services. There will be a celebration of his life planned in Vancouver in the near future.
