JOPLIN, MO —

Genevieve Shepherd, age 86, Joplin, Mo., passed away Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, following a short illness.

She was born Feb. 25, 1926, in Kansas City, Mo., to John and Nevada Gillis

Genevieve was a homemaker and lived in the Kansas City, Mo. and Joplin area her entire life.

She married Kenneth Shepherd on Oct. 31, 1948. He preceded her in death in 1988.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and four sisters.

Genevieve is survived by three daughters, Beverly Dye and husband, Daniel, Joplin, Carolyn Norcross and husband, Richard, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Roxanne Owens, Kansas City; six grandchildren, Kenneth Spiller, Jim Stevens, Maria  Morrone, Tina Dossett, Lynnette Lee and Marion Loveless; and seven great-grandchildren.

It was Genevieve's wish to be cremated and have her ashes scattered at a later date.

The family request that contributions be made to Oxford Hospice in memory of Genevieve.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory, Joplin.
