CARTHAGE, MO —
Ralph E. McConnell Sr., 94, Carthage, Mo., passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at Spring River Christian Village, Joplin, Mo.
Ralph Everett McConnell was born Nov. 20, 1918, in Jasper, Mo., the son of the late Earnest McConnell and Beulah Smith McConnell. He attended public schools in Jasper and was a 1936 graduate of Jasper High School. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp. He was a crop duster for American Dusting Inc., Chickasha, Okla., for 34 years and later was a building contractor in Carthage. He was a skilled craftsman in making all kinds and sizes of clocks, bird houses and furniture. He was a member of Central Assembly of God, Joplin.
Survivors include four sons, Ralph McConnell Jr., Hertford, N.C., Stephen McConnell, Livermore, Calif., Mark McConnell, Rose Hill, Kan., and James McConnell, San Diego, Calif.; one sister, Lola Haffner, Carthage; two brothers, John McConnell, Lexington, Mo., and Denzel McConnell, Carthage; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Kenneth McConnell.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, in the Knell Mortuary Chapel. Interment will be in Park Cemetery, Carthage.
