CARTERVILLE, MO —
Sherry Carey Updegraff, age 60, of Carterville, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at her home following 16 months of ill health.
Sherry was born Dec. 5, 1952, in Joplin, and was a lifetime area resident. Sherry worked as a sales representative for Howsmon's Office Supplies and later worked for U.S. Office Products, retiring in 2009. Sherry was a member of Faith and New Hope Church in Carterville. She was a former member of the Joplin Chamber of Commerce Red Coats and was an active bowler.
Sherry married Gary Updegraff Nov. 23, 1990, in Eureka Springs, Ark. He survives.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Marla Carey Reed and husband, David, Carterville; her mother, Ruth Betterton, Oronogo, Mo.; a stepson; two stepdaughters; two brothers; and five sisters. She was preceded in death by her father; three brothers; and her favorite two boys (Pugs), Bozz and Willy.
A memorial visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Mason-Woodard Chapel in Joplin.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Crematory, of Joplin.
