Veta Marie Peterson

NEVADA, MO —

Veta Marie Peterson, age 95, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada.

Mrs. Peterson was born on Sept. 15, 1917, to William Roy and Lillie Lacy Jeans in Lisle, Mo., in Cass County.

Mrs. Peterson attended and graduated from Joplin High School in 1935, and was married to Alfred Lang Peterson, of Joplin, later that year. She and Pete moved to Nevada in 1947, as her husband co-owned P&B Tractor and Equipment, an Allis Chalmers dealership, in partnership with Vernon Balk in the 1950s to 1969.

Veta was a life-long member of the First Christian Church, Nevada, and the GFWC Domestic Science Club, of Nevada. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, needlework and family gatherings.

Mrs. Peterson is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Christi Peterson, Nevada. She is also survived by a granddaughter, Sarah Peterson Coleman. She was preceded in death by her parents. Her husband, Alfred L. Pete Peterson, preceded her in death in 1996.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 2 p.m. in Ozark Memorial Park in Joplin, under the direction of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
