JOPLIN, Mo. —
Florence Coleman, age 94, of Joplin, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at her home after a brief illness.
She was born Dec. 26, 1918, in Carthage, Mo., to the late Burt Taylor and Della Hall Taylor and had lived in the Joplin area most of her life.
Florence was a member of the First Christian Church, of Joplin, a homemaker and did volunteer work for Crosslines, of Joplin. Due to her husband's work, she lived in many places in the United States, Cuba, Haiti and Thailand.
Her first husband, Orval Woerlin preceded her in death in 1942. She married J. D. Coleman September 26, 1942 in Joplin. He preceded her in death Dec. 9, 1993.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Florence was preceded in death by six siblings, Charles, Ernest, Richard and Elray Taylor, Mary Arehart and Betty Doss.
Florence is survived by one daughter, Joyce D. Smith, of Joplin; two brothers, Carl and Albert Taylor, both of Reeds, Mo.; and one grandson, Jason David Smith and his wife, Jennifer, of Republic, Mo.
Graveside services for Florence will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 29, at the Osborne Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Parker Mortuary with Rev. Faye Blevins officiating.
