LAMAR, Mo. —
Selma Jean Clawson, age 86, of Lamar, Mo., passed at her son's home in Walnut Grove, Mo., Thursday, June 27, 2013, after a battle with cancer.
Selma was born July 9, 1926, at Bolivar, Mo., to Charles Abner Wilkins and Grace Elizabeth (Brines) Wilkins. She graduated Golden City High School in 1945; and on April 12, 1947, she married James Loren Clawson.
Selma worked for 25 years as a cook for Truman Manor (Truman Healthcare Center) and then was a caretaker for Betty Thiebaud for 10 years. She was a past member of Women's Aglow and traveled extensively with that organization. Selma also loved to fish.
Survivors include four sons, Howard and Marilyn Clawson, of Lamar, Kenneth and Paula Clawson, of Jericho Spring, Mo., Leland and Linda Clawson, of Spokane, Wash., and Roger and Christa Clawson, of Walnut Grove; one sister, Maxine LeGrand, of Lamar; 10 grandchildren, Angela Morgan, Keith Clawson, Brian Clawson, Scott Clawson, Amy McMillin, Benjamin Clawson, Daniel Clawson, Christopher Clawson, Sarah Conner and Katie Clawson; and eight great-grandchildren, Jade, Lauren, Madison, Devon, Drew, Gatlyn, Gracyn and Sawyer. Selma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; an infant daughter, Margretta Jean Clawson in 1948; and two brothers, Charles and Carl Wilkins.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 30, at Daniel Funeral Home with burial to follow in Newport Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at Daniel Funeral Home.
