SENECA, Mo. —
John Michael Adams, 63, lifelong Seneca Resident, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at the Cancer Treatment Center in Tulsa, Okla., surrounded by his loving wife, sister and brothers.
John Michael Adams was born April 19, 1949, in Neosho, Mo., the son of Loyd and Bernice Adams. He graduated from Seneca High School in 1967 and from Missouri Southern State College in 1972, with a Bachelors Degree in Education. John taught history, social studies, coached football and baseball at Monett and Seneca, prior to being employed by The Missouri Highway Patrol. He retired in 2007, after 30 years of service.
John served on the Seneca School Board, refereed high school football, baseball and girls softball for 36 years. He was currently serving his third term on the Seneca City Council. He loved playing golf, fishing and spending time with his wife and daughter. He was loved so very much by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Tawni; and daughter, Abigail, of the home; his mother, Bernice Adams, Seneca; and loving mother in-law, Sunny (Honey) Graham; one sister, Mary Ann Nutting and husband, Doug, Miami; two brothers, Jim Adams and wife, Kim and Steve Adams and wife, Brenda, all of Seneca; A host of nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. John M. Adams was preceded in death by his father, Loyd J. Adams.
Funeral services under the direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, at the Seneca Christian Church with Truman Brady officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery with brothers, Jim and Steve Adams, brother in-law, Doug Nutting and nephews, Rick and Chad Nutting and Steven Adams Jr. serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 1, at the Seneca Christian Church.
