CARL JUNCTION, Mo. —
Janice L. Smith, age 51, Carl Junction, Mo., passed away Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Mercy Hospital after a sudden illness.
Janice was born July 9, 1961, in Quincy, Ill., to James R. Smith and Othelia Hess Smith and had lived in the Joplin area since 1971.
She worked as a caregiver and a substitute teacher in the Joplin area for many years. She attended First Baptist Church and loved the outdoors. She enjoyed flowers, scrapbooking, decorating for Christmas and spending time with her family.
Janice is survived by her children, Bryan Smith, Joplin, Kristopher Smith, Carl Junction, and Tiffany Smith, Joplin; her companion of 17 years, Richard Miller, Carl Junction; her parents, James R. and Othelia Smith, Joplin; one sister, Juanita Smith, Joplin; and grandchildren, Domminick, Gage, Kaleb, Sabryna, Alyssa, Lexus, Alya, Autumn, Bradley, Jorden, Brooklynn, Kaden and one on the way. She is also survived by a niece and nephew, Destiny and Jeff.
Services are planned for Sunday at 1 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. The family will receive friends following the service at the chapel.
