BAXTER SPRINGS, Kan. —
Audrey Danice Hughes, 21, of Baxter Springs, Kan., a bright and beautiful young lady lost her struggle with anorexia on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at her home.
Beloved daughter Audrey was born March 25, 1992, at Pittsburg, Kan., to Carrie Rydberg-Griffith and Christopher Hughes.
She graduated from Baxter Springs High School with the class of 2010. She attended Coffeyville Community College and was currently enrolled at Labette Community College, where she was a part of the theatre, dance and music department. By knowing Audrey, you knew she was very gifted and talented in all of these departments. Some of Audrey's favorite things to do were to sing and dance. She also loved cooking, shopping and dressing up to always look her best. She was very kind hearted and always took time to care for others above herself. She volunteered at the Lowell-Milken Education Center in Fort Scott, Kan., and the Safe House in Pittsburg, Kan. She was a member of the First Christian Church, of Baxter Springs.
Audrey is preceded in death by her grandfather, Woody Hughes.
She is survived by her parents, Carrie Rydberg-Griffith and husband, Andrew, of Baxter Springs, and Christopher Hughes, of Joplin, Mo.; one brother, Bo Hughes, of Pittsburg; one sister, Isabella Griffith, of the home; grandparents, Dona Williams and husband, John, of Baxter Springs, Bernard Rydberg, of Neosho, Mo., and Janiece Hemphill, of Webb City, Mo.; along with aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, April 13, at the First Christian Church, Baxter Springs. Pastor Ken Finely will officiate. Viewing of Audrey will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Derfelt's Baxter Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, family request donations be made to help offset expenses.
