JOPLIN, Mo. —
Leslie Bash, age 82, Joplin, passed away at 6:25 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at Mercy Hospital after an illness.
Leslie was born Mar. 29, 1931, in Cherokee County, Kan., to the late Albert L. Bash and Amy Vanetta Bash and had lived in Joplin most of his life.
Leslie worked for the City of Joplin in the Parks and Recreation Department for several years, and was currently working with the Joplin Housing Authority in the security department. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served during the Korean War.
Survivors include two daughters, Bobbie Henderson, Joplin, Jo Murray and her husband, Dave, Carl Junction; son-in-law, Steve Crum, Carl Junction; four grandchildren, Allen Henderson, Jr., Virginia, Mica Rosenow and her husband, Reese and children, Killian Helms and Merit Rosenow, Cassi Ethridge and son, Matthew Ethridge, Kirstie Bash; three brothers, LeRoy Bash and his wife, Linda, Texas, Clayton Bash, Texas, James Bash, Kansas; and one sister, Ruby Jenkins, Kansas. Leslie was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanne Crum; and four sisters, Nadine Hairgrove, Alberta Mills, Virginia Sturgeon and Phyllis Wyatt.
A memorial friendship gathering is planned for Saturday, Oct. 12, at Murphy Manor from 2 to 4 p.m. The family will have a private interment of the ashes at Osborne Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
Leslie supported many charities, so the family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the donors favorite charity in honor of their father.
