Ruby Lee Henson Brockman

NEOSHO, Mo. — Ruby Lee Henson Brockman, 86, Neosho, Mo., died Dec. 24, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.

Ruby was born Sept. 24, 1927, in Pineville, Mo., to Francis Norton Henson and Myrtle Carter Henson. Ruby came to Neosho in 1958, from Tulsa, Okla. She worked in production for McDonald Douglas. She was the secretary to the superintendent of McDonald County School District. She worked in customer service at Sears, Montgomery Ward and New Mac Electric. She was a member of Cave Springs Baptist Church. She was a member of the Republican Committee for many years. She loved to garden.

Ruby and John Brockman were married on Jan. 5, 1952, in Tulsa. He preceded her in death of June 16, 2002.  

She is survived by two sons, Greg  and Teresa Brockman, Joplin, and Kendall and Diana Brockman, Neosho; two daughters, Rebecca and Steve Cantrell, Carl Junction, Mo., and Melinda Heater, Rogers Ark.; four brothers, Martin and Barbara Henson, Tulsa, Clayton and Juanita Henson, Las Vegas, Nev., Troy and Zelda Henson, Pineville, Mo., and Glen and Sundy Henson, Neosho; two sisters, Shirley and Fred Boatright, Neosho, and Carol and Bob Corcoran, Anderson, Mo.; and one sister-in-law, Gloria Bradley, Versailles, Ky. Ruby was also survived by six grandchildren, Haley Goostree, Thomas Cantrell, Taylor Cantrell, Amanda Brockman, Basil Brockman and Carter Brockman; and one great-grandchild, Joicelyn Cantrell. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by two sisters,  Doris Stephens and Fern Davidson Acosta; and one brother, James Henson.

Services will be held Thursday, Jan. 2, at 1 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church in Neosho, with Rev. Everet Staib and Kendall Brockman officiating. Interment will follow in King Cemetery, Neosho. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Tom Cantrell, Taylor Cantrell, Basil Brockman and Carter Brockman, Haley Goostree and Amanda Brockman. Family will receive friends, Wednesday, Jan. 1, from 3 to 4 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Ruby may be made to King Cemetery or Missouri Baptist Home in care of Clark Funeral Home, P.O. Box 66, Neosho, MO 64850-0066.

The family request that in lieu of food being brought to the family home, contributions be made to a local food bank.

Service arrangements are under the directions of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
