Michael Wayne Harris

WEBB CITY, MO —

Michael Wayne Harris, age 68, of Webb City, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at home, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Michael was born on Aug. 20, 1943, in Flint, Mich., the son of the late Gean and Jammie (Wise) Harris. He graduated from Midwestern School of Evangelism in Ottumwa, Iowa, with a BA in Sacred Literature.

He married Carol Brester on March 12, 1978, in Walnut Creek, Calif.

He worked as a service representative for the Pacific Bell Telephone Company in San Ramon, Calif., retiring in 1999. After retiring he and his family moved to Webb City. He was a member of the Mount Hope Church of Christ. He loved teaching the Bible. He enjoyed backpacking and repairing things. He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Coca Cola.

He is survived by his wife, Carol M. Harris; one son, Michael W. Harris; three daughters, Marlena C. Harris, Regina S. Harris and Jennifer E. Harris; two brothers, Gean Harris, Noble, Ill., and Jessie Harris, Olympia, Wash.; and one granddaughter, Alana Harris. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Steve and Kenneth Harris; and two sisters, Patricia Shable and Jeanette Hubbs.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Mount Hope Church of Christ. Victor Knowles, Minister, will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Peace On Earth Ministries or the Midwestern School of Evangelism in care of the mortuary.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
